Via Crowd added user cannot reset his password

Deleted user February 22, 2015

Hey there!

I added a user via Crowd and put him into the group Users (I deleted the default group confluence-users due to translation, we are located in german. The new group has the same permissions.).

Now the user resets his password to put a password to do the login. Password reset is working, mail is coming, the user puts his new password. Now he wants to login and an error appears: Following errors appeared. Please retry the login and fill out the captcha.

This happens all the time, you can reset the password as often as you want to, always the same error. So I gave the user administrator permissions and then I gave him again default user permissions. Now its working.

Any ideas?

Hi Lars,

I believe the Confluence users and Confluence administrators groups are necessary to exist according to the Crowd documentation here.

The Confluence application will need to authenticate users against a directory configured in Crowd. You will need to set up a directory in Crowd for Confluence. For more information on how to do this, see Adding a Directory. We will assume that the directory is called Confluence Directory for the rest of this document. It is possible to assign more than one directory for an application, but for the purposes of this example, we will use Confluence Directory to house Confluence users.

Confluence also requires particular groups to exist in the directory in order to authenticate users. You will need to create two groups in the Confluence Directory:

  1. confluence-users
  2. confluence-administrators

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Rodrigo

So I made the mistake that I deleted both. What to do? :(

What I did: - recreated the groups confluence-users and confluence-administrators - gave them back the permissions - added the test user to the users group - synced the directories Still not working. I can reset the password of the user account, I receive the mail, I set up a new password, when I try to login Confluence comes up with the error message "wrong username / password".
