Restrict attachment file types

Deleted user March 27, 2013

Is there a way to restrict the types of attachments people can upload i.e. .exe files? I found some articles on the "Attachements Filter" plugin, but it doesn't look like it exists anymore.

Hallo Chris

There isn't a way to restrict the attachments people can upload, by blacklisting a file type. I've found this request on our issue tracker, closed as "won't fix":

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-6931

There are some suggestions that may be useful in this post:

I hope this helps!

Cheers, Sarah

@SarahA - do you know of anything that will allow custom attachment limits by file type? So I could restrict quite low the size of an image that slows down page load yet keep the limit higher for necessary file attachments?

Please provide a solution to this. It's completely ridiculous that you don't have this _basic_ functionality. wow. insulting.

I'm confused as to why this is accepted but there isn't a working solution...

The "solved" flag is for "there's an answer that tells us nothing else needs doing".  Mostly that means that the original question has an answer, but it can also mean "closed because there is no answer", or, as in this case, "closed because there's an issue which tells you the state of the request"
