Reporting without plugins?

Atlassian Confluence 5.1.5

Our company has many spaces and are not comfortable with installing plugins.

My team's space would like to have the capability of having weekly reports displayed on our space. The reports are currently created in Excel with macros, but we are interested in improving and making the reporting process more efficient. Meaning we are open to other platforms and methods for our reports.

Since we cannot use plugins, I've looked into the Office Excel macro, but it isn't convenient as the maximum file upload is 2MB.

Another idea was to create the reports on Tableau and provide a link on the space to view the report. This is a possible solution, but it would be best if the report could be posted right on the space rather than a link. Also, we would like the transition to have minimal training.

If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share!

Thank you.

If the spreadsheet is static, that is, it doesn't have any functions that manipulate the data, then transferring them to Confluence tables is pretty easy.

  1. In Excel, select all the cells in the spreadsheet and copy
  2. In Confluence, create a 1 cell x 1 cell table and paste

Are the macros used just in creating the report, or in manipulating data after?

Macros create and manipulate data after (create graphs)

Then I don't think there is an Excel to Confluence strategy for you. But there are some options:

  1. Use Tableau and use the Iframe macro to offer a window to the reports on that site.
  2. Do all the data collecting and reporting within Confluence using built-in and/or add-on macros.
