In earlier versions of Confluence, the Page History used to display the username in the Changed By column. Since version 6 the Changed By column shows the avatar instead and you have to now hover over the avatar to see the username.
Can anyone tell me please how to reset this to dislay the username?
You cannot. This changed since multiple authors can be the author of a "Change".
If you're on Confluence Server you can customize Confluence to get the data you'd like. If you're on Confluence Cloud you're not going to have many options to change this.
We have the same problem and use Confluence server. Can you give a hint how to customize Confluence Server to display the user names instead of avatars in page histories?

I think this is an unfortunate design decision. You could still show a name when there is only one author, satisifying 99% of the occurrences (I'm guessing).
