OK I have a space with permissions set to allow blog posts but as a user I cannot see any way to add a new blog post.
Any ideas??

You can use the create button again and change the posting date at the bottom left.

what confluence version is that?
if it is a recent version where you have a "create" button...click it...blog post is in there

I take it that the blog template isn't showing when you click the "create" button?
I'd double check the space permissions, check if the group/user assigned to be able to perform the actions on that space are correct.
You could also check the global template for the blog entry is correct (reset back to default to test if necessary)
Sorry I havent reported this very well.
I created a space and then selected blog on the side bar.
I then created an blog entry by clicking on the 'create blog post' button
Now having come back to the blog I see my original post in a navigator in the side bar and I can select my posting and view it.
So now I want to add a second post a day later but there is no 'Add' post button that I can see
If I click on 'Blog' in the side bar nothing happens. All I see is my original posting.
This is a pretty vanilla installation of confluence. I have double checked permissions
both Default space & Space permissions are set to allow 'add' blog posts for the user

I realize this post is several years old...I too am having the same issue as Nicholas.We are using Confluence in the cloud...so the version is the newest at the time of this post (1000.81.0).
I have no ability to add another blog post once I've added the initial ones...permissions are all correct.
I am having the same issue. I want to add additional blog posts but have no way to alter the entry date, nor does "blog post" show up in the Create menu or anywhere else. Stumped.
