Java Heap Error on Word Document Import

Sean September 12, 2012

User is trying to import a word document that's about 3MB in size and keeps getting heap size errors. I've increased the heap size to 512MB for min and 1024MB for the max (server has 8GB of ram and is running Windows 2008 server R2). What do I need to look for to solve this issue? Are there settings specific to the office import?

Hi Sean,

Looks like you have hit into this bug - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-17113

It would be great if you can drop a comment for your Confluence version there.

Hi Sean,

sometimes we had problems with pictures in the Word documents. We removed the pictures from the doc and added it manually after the import. This worked for us.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hello Sean,

These settings are very specific to your environment. Things like the instance size (number of issues, projects, etc), and the number of installed plugins are directly related with the heap size needed.

Then, I believe that the better way to handle this problem is upon analyzing your logs, on a support ticket. Therefore, could you please open a request at http://support.atlassian.com and provide your log files, so the team can quickly analyze your instance and provide a solution?

Cheers!
