Is it possible to create a "mirror" environment of Confluence to access information during an update

minor.b October 3, 2019

Our security team is going to be updating Confluence and want to know if there is a way to create a "staging site" on confluence, where employees can access information during the time that Confluence is not available

Hi Minor

welcome to the Atlassian community.

One option would to have a cloned environment, that gets used throughout your update

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/create-a-staging-environment-for-upgrading-confluence-866094180.html provides some steps on that topic.

One thing to keep in mind is that changes to that cloned environment do not get automatically backported to the original one, so you should instruct your users to either use it in a read only way or that they need to do any changes afterwards to the other instance as well.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Kurt
