Import Word document as draft pages

If I import a Word document, it is immediately published. Can I import the document sections as draft pages. If not, how do I change a published page into a draft page; from what I can see I can only create drafts for page edits or new pages, but not convert a published page to a draft.

when you edit a published page and do not publish the modification it is automatically in draft state
