Hi,

I have prepared charts in an file excel. I want to add charts in confluence in such a way that in that excel file if I change the data the charts will be automatically updated.

How can i do that?

Regards,

Sonal

Hi Sonal,

There are several approaches to do this:

  1. Office Excel macro displays content of the attached Excel file.
  2. Chart macro builds a chart on the basis of static table data.
  3. Chart from Table macro (Table Filter and Charts app) builds charts on the basis of any kind of table data. It can be combined with Office Excel macro, or you can store store and edit tables in Confluence, create pivot tables or make different calculations on them and then build charts directly in Confluence.

Hi Andrey,

Thank you for your guidance.

1. I believe options 2 & 3 will need the data to be stored in confluence?

2. How will option 1 work since MYOB confluence is cloud based?

Regards,

Sonal

  1. You need to attach Excel file to a Confluence page. This attachment can be edited in Confluence, or you can upload a new version of the file. Office Excel macros differs in Confluence Server and Cloud edition, you can try it and see if it suits your needs.
  2. Most likely you'll need to store data in Confluence. Chart macro works with tables and static macros that produce tables. Static macros are those macros that produce tables before the page is loaded. Many macros load tables dynamically after the page is loaded.
