How to revert user management on Conlfuence from JIRA (connected to AD) to AD directly

Katarzyna Sieklucka July 15, 2016

Currently our user management in trial Confluence is via Remote JIRA Directory. In JIRA we use Active Directory to manage users.

When migrating Confluence to production server we want to change Confluence user management directly to Active Directory. Users should stay the same as we will use the same AD but without JIRA.

Do you know how to do it to keep user and groups permissions configuration?

The sufficient option would be to keep the users and their references.

Thanks for help.

I had to do just that a few months ago. Simply configure your new AD user directory to look exactly like JIRA's and disable the old one. As long as the users have the same usernames, all references will be kept without problems. As for permissions, those associated with users directly will be kept, but if you're switching from local to synced AD groups, you'll obviously need to replace those in the spaces permissions settings.

Just make sure you try that out on a test environment first.
