How to index the content of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint documents

I am unable to search the content of uploaded Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint documents.  These documents will upload and can be downloaded.

Micosoft Word, RTF, PDF and text files are searchable.

I am running the following products:

Confluence version 7.1.0 and 7.3.5
