How to assign read only access to a speciic space

Added a new user an put him into the new group "test".

The user can't see the space and the pages until I assign the group the right to add/edit pages.
But this is not what I want.
I want the user/group only to be able to view the space/pages (without any additional rights).
Couldn't find anything related in the documentation.
"Page Restriction" won't help either.

What am I doing wrong ?

The PlugIn Ad hoc Workflows 3.2.7 is causing the problem.
After deactivation everything works as expected

Hi Peter,

As mentioned by Christian, it is weird to see that behavior as "View" permission should be enough. Just to ensure that no plugin causing this, please try to enable plugin safe mode and see if the issue persist.

You might want to try to create new space and see if the behavior is the same.

Strange, normally the "view" persmission should be enough...

Here'sa screenshot of the space permission.
No additional rights are added to the corresponding user.
I'm using confluence 4.2.6
