How to alias search terms

Tim_Brigham December 6, 2012

I have a large number of pages that have similiar but slightly different words applied for related content.

I would like to set up some kind of alias when using the search feature, say within Space1 if I search for "Confluence" it would also return pages containing (or provide a 'did you mean' entry to ) "Wiki".

Is there a ready way to do this *without the need to change the tags on individual pages*?

Hello Tim,

Unfortunately there is no way to perform this by a simple tweak. We use Lucene as our Indexer, and you can take a look at the Index using Luke.

Maybe Luke can help you tweak how Confluence uses the Indexing, but there is no guarantees. All I can say is that some sort of Customization may be required.

In another way you could use Labels, and use Confluence and Wiki labels, this would trigger them to be in the same page, and would return values equally.

Hope this helps you!

Cheers,

Guilherme
