How many concurrent users can edit a page / blog at the same time?

Deleted user April 24, 2012

Hi I need to know how many concurrent users can edit the same page or blog at the same time. It occurs that in some cases all content of a page gets overwritten by the edits of one single person.

Situation:

We have one blog post where at max 20 different people have to edit a different part of the post. Unfortunately sometimes everything gets overwritten. It appears that some people need a whole day to edit the document (which has a size of aproximately 30 pages) and they save it only one time -> when they are finished.

Is there something known about an issue like this?

Hey,

if they are editing different sections those changes should be merged automatically. It works with pages and blogs.

Hi,

thanks for your answer. I know the article you mentioned, but somehow we get to this issues -> maybe it is really because some people don't save frequently enough.

Altough I wonder if there is a limit in concurrent usage of a page or blog.

Yup - edit as much as you want, but save frequently. That's always good advice.

Hi Christian,

There's no hard limiit on the number of concurrent users that can edit the same page or blog post and it is a case of "last save wins" - http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Concurrent+Editing+and+Merging+Changes

If each of the users is editing a different part of the post what you could do is set up a separate page for each part of the blog post and then use the {include} macro onthe blog post itself to aggregate the content into a single post. It's not perfect and would take a bit of time to set up, but it should reduce the number of editing clashes as users would only be editing their specific parts. Once they've finished their edits a specified user could then publish the blog post.

Does that make sense? Would that work for you?

Andrew.
