Hi, currently the process we follow for creating Release Notes is as follows:

  1. Manually copy the issues, the summary, and the additional details from Jira into Word.
  2. Rephrase the content in Word for better usability.

Is there a way by which I can generate a Word document (Release Notes document) directly from Jira? Is there a ready-to-use template that I can use and then customize if need be?

Do guide.

Jira does have a function for creating release notes as documented in Creating release notes - Atlassian documentation.  However these are not created in a Word format.  Instead these can either be created in text or html formats.

You can customize the formatting of those templates as well, that same link has more information on how you can do this in Jira.
