Export to PDF; removing the index on table of contents

Question

When I am exporting to PDF, the table of contents is being generated with the entires (pages) being numerically indexed ie.
1. Page 1
1.1 child page 1
1.2 child page 2
Etc

How do I remove the leading numerical indexing?
