I have a sort of template space that I want to use to create several new spaces. I can copy a single page, but I am not able to include its related hierarchy. I know it is possible to run a backup of a space, and then import the backup space back in again, but the version of Confluence does not seen to have that feature.
You could try Yoikee Creator for Confluence
allows you create N spaces with the very same page structure. You just create a mind map, which is in fact a Space Blueprint, and you generate as many spaces as you need. Yoikee has three examples to start with: a new product, a new project and a new marketing campaign.
Here is a video explaining all this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0_B-bBwMUo
I believe Confluence doesn't have this functionality indeed. I couldn't find any documentation stating how to copy the page with the hierarchy. I believe that if you select all child pages from the mother page, they should be copied respecting the page tree structure.
You may want to open a feature request for this feature at Jira.atlassian.comwith the exact description of the feature you'd like and ask your colleagues to vote and watch it so it will increase the popularity as well.
we also have a "template-space" with some generic content wich we copied every time we create a new space for a new project.
We are using the Copy-Space-Plugin which really makes what it sounds like :-)
