Confluence page with drop downs that filter data responses

Doug November 26, 2019

We have a project where users want to create a Confluence page that will allow users to choose data from drop downs and then response data is displayed. An example would be a page that has 3 drop downs and users must make a choice in each of them. The drop downs would be like Country Origin, Country Destination, Shipping Method (Air, Ground, Ocean). Data associated with those choices like carrier, contact name, account, etc. would then be returned once the choices are made.

We have one option where we use the Table Filters and Charts for Confluence plugin and data is pulled from an attached Excel spreadsheet. It's ok, but the user would like something a little more elegant. The requirements would be below. Any suggestions on alternatives? Basically looking to create a simple "if this then show this" type of page.

  • Ease of use for end users and page editors
  • No data should be shown until users make choices on the 3 criteria

Hello @Doug

You can set Show first N rows option to 0+ in the Table Filter macro so that it won't show any rows until filtration is applied.

This is another addon, and you'd probably still need to pull data from Excel, but the Confiforms addon (https://wiki.vertuna.com/display/CONFIFORMS/Basic+concepts) might work.

I've only used it for more simple forms, such as work intake and surveys, however, it does have a number of more advanced features for forms.
