Confluence Team Permissions and Cross Team sharing

Jeremy Scott April 14, 2016

We have five or more teams that are creating internal documentation that need to be isolated from each other normally secure documentation.  There are times where one team would like to share pages with another team but not the others for certain team collaborative projects.  What is the best way to accomplish this in Confluence?  Some teams members are having difficulty collaborating with others because they can't share an article they created.  When they try to share it, the link is dead first because of space permissions or page restrictions.  When a page is moved to allow others to see it, the organization of the spaces become unorganized.  There doesn't seem to be a way to structure the permissions for exceptions such as these either within the space permissions or the page permissions.  Both are either too open or too restrictive especially when trying to keep organization of pages together.

Anybody have any ideas or best practices for this?

Maybe create a separate space for collaboration? Then, those pages that need to be shared can be copied from the restricted space to the collaboration one. This would leave the organization on the restricted spaces intact.

One issue may be how restricted the shared page still needs to be - i.e., Team 1 needs to share with Team 2 but doesn't want Team 3 to see it.
