Hi,
Since the launch of confluence 7.x logs are throwing errors for non utf8 encoding in db.
Any one have changed confluence postgresql db encoding from SQL_ASCII to UTF8.
Even though we can do this using pg_dump,not sure this will hamper anyother existing functionality.
Any thoughts on this?
Hello Sarath,
Thank you for contacting us about this. We have a knowledge base article on how to fix encoding in Postgres.
You can either do this using an XML export of Confluence, or with pg_dump. It won't affect any existing functionality so long as you follow these instructions:
Create new database with the correct Collation and CType. Please refer to Database Setup for PostgreSQL
Migrate the data to the new database with Pg_dump
Could you give that a try and let me know if you have any trouble?
Regards,
Shannon
Have tried that.
But want to know if any hidden issues in bodycontent during conversion from SQL_ASCII to utf-8

Hello Sarath,
I have not heard of any users encountering issues like that when fixing the collation on their database according to our procedure.
To confirm what you're saying, you've created a brand-new PostgreSQL database with the correct collation. You have already migrated your content over to it using pg_dump. Is that correct?
If you are still encountering the issue after that change, you need to make sure that everything is on UTF-8. Including file system, database, database tables, etc. See Troubleshooting Character Encodings for more details. You may find it helpful to pair up with a server and database admin for this if you don't have full server access.

Shannon
