Cascading edit restriction from parent to child page

Amalesh Maity September 16, 2020

Hi Community members,

I have a query for set restrictions on the wiki page.

we have below OSPF wiki page which is the parent page for all ospf child pages

https://wiki.cisco.com/display/OSPF/IOS-XR+OSPF

I have modified the restrictions on this page with Everyone can view, only some can edit.

But all the child pages below still have no restriction

child page:

https://wiki.cisco.com/display/OSPF/Firex+ospf+run

https://wiki.cisco.com/display/OSPF/IOS-XR+OSPF+QIP

as I see the restrictions rule it says

"Edit restrictions are not inherited, which means pages need to be restricted individually."

Let me know if you have any solution for this, as it will be a big task to set a restriction for all child pages/

Regards

Amalesh

There is no way to cascade restrictions down like that in Confluence.  (There was for a while, but it was removed rather quickly after all the screaming about how it messed up so many people's security)

You will need to find an app that can apply your restriction when you need it cascaded.  Obviously, I'll mention Scriptrunner for Confluence becuase I know it could do it (and I work for Adaptavist), but there may be other options in the marketplace.
