Can't login into Confluence

Lukasz Ciechanowicz August 5, 2013

Hi,

In our company we have installed Jira 5.2.11 and Confluence 5.1.2. Since few days we can't log into the Confluence anymore. Jira works fine.

To log into the Confluence and Jira we use the same username and passwords. They are both connected to eachother.

During the login we encounter following problem:

Confluence problem

Do you have any ideas how to solve such problem?

Thank you in advance

I am facing the exact same issue right now. exact same logs from above.

What was the solution?

WE don't really know, because it was not followed up with an answer 5 years ago.

The code for user access was pretty much re-written when Jira 7 and Confluence 6 arrived, so even though you might see a similar problem, everything has changed since this was asked.

I would recommend that you write up your problem as a new question, as it's deprecated here and does not have much of an audience.

Thank you for your replies guys,

I use Internal Authentication and all users have been created using Jira, running on the same machine.

I know the admin's credential. I use it to log into Jira. The problem is that none of Jira accounts work on Confluence now :( No single user can log into the Confluence, so I guess there must be some problem with connections between Confluence and Jira.

In Jira I see only accounts that I've created... so I guess that the admin's account that I mentioned above is the only one admin's account. There is no other users with such priviledges on my users list in Jira. Is there any default "admin" account?

This is deffinitely not the problem of browser's cache, because I've been using few browser and trying to access Confluence from few different locations.

And talking about errors in log files.

I have't found any interesting information there.

I have bolded two different URL's. Jira is available for our external users through http://partners-jira.mycompany.eu but at the beging the URL was http://jira.mycompany.eu:8080

But from local machine, where jira and confluence are running both addresses corresponds to the same IP address, and I can access jira using both of them.

Hi Lukasz,

If you have only Internal Authentication, I mean, without any external user directory playing a role there, you can try to use this documentation, to find the admin, and also reset the password, as you can see here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Restoring+Passwords+To+Recover+Admin+User+Rights

Also try to clean the browser's cache, because we could have some old cookies there as well.

Cheers,

WZ

Is JIRA acting as the authorization server, or do both connect back to LDAP/AD/Crowd?

-- Either way, scour the logs for Confluence for auth failure reasons.

-- If yes, scour the logs fro JIRA for rejected auth attempts from confluence.

-- If using crowd it is likely the crowd password was not set in the 2 required places. Revisit the upgrade guide.

Have you tried to have an Admin account "reset" the locked out IDs?
