Can comments be made in the Editor?

Is it possible to insert editing comments in the Editor that are hidden in Viewing Mode, similar to html/css-comments.

For example

<!-- Please keep this anchor here -->

Since you have the server version you could create a user macro like below and then you could just use the editor like normal to put in the comments. One you create the user macro you will be able to put in a comment macro that will only show in edit mode.

Macro Name:
comment

Macro Title:
Comment

Macro Body Processing:
Rendered

Template:

## @noparams

Excellent! Thank you!

Hi @Michael Harris ,

I'm not really sure that my answer will be relevant to you, but let it be just for the note here. It seems like our app has a feature to address your case. Talk - Advanced Inline Comments has the capability to set visibility restrictions for the comments on a space level or/and for the specific comment thread. Say, you want to restrict viewing just for yourself and make personal notes on a page. You can also do the same for specific users and groups to discuss something privately with them.

Some options are explained in the answers to this question:

How do I add a text "hint" in Confluence Edit

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, as far as I can determine, none of those offer an easy on-the-fly solution for editors to make editing comments hidden from normal viewing.

The placeholder text one works very well and you can enter it pretty easily from the Source Editor. Do you have Confluence Server or Cloud?
