Drop down and rendering rest of the page

Hi Atlassian experts,

We have a requirement of creating a Template with drop down having values like 'Decision' and 'Exception'. Depends on the values selected we need to display rest of the content. For example -: 2X3 table if 'Decision' selected but 'Expand' appear (and hide 2X3 table) if 'Exception' selected. Please suggest best way to achieve it (we prefer not to use 3rd party macros at this point).

What I have tried so far -:

1. Created new macro with drop down and javascript to show and hide div as per the requirement. But its not saving data entered!

2. Created new variable with list values - 'Decision' and 'Exception'. But now I don't know how to pass value selected to other macro to show and hide content!

Any help and information highly appreciated.
