Mirroring Bitbucket image to Confluence via Mark-down App

Kristin Beck March 4, 2021

Hi everyone,

to mirror content and code edited in a repo in Bitbucket in Confluence, we use the app "Mark-down" from Bobswift for Confluence. We specifically use "Markdown from a URL". Thus, we provide a technical user and an access token here as well as the URL to the specific page in the Bitbucket:

We do not manage to mirror images from Bitbucket to Confluence via this method, only text.

Example of such an URL to a document edited in Bitbucket, containing an image we also wish to be shown in Confluence:

https://xxx-bitbucket.name.company.com/projects/LALA/repos/flower/rose/raw/pink/Component.md?at=xxx%xxx%xxx

markdown app.png

Our problem: the text is mirrored correctly, the image isn't.

Hence, we moved the image to a different folder in Bitbucket, hoping it would be shown in Confluence when we provide the direct image URL in the app "Markdown from a URL under "URL to markdown file": https://bitbucket.name.company.com/projects/LALA/repos/flower/rose/raw/pics/example-pic.pngmd?at=xxx%xxx%xxx&accesstoken

Yet, it didn't work, the picture wasn't shown in Confluence, either, despite having moved it to a seperate folder.

Then, we thought we might have to add "&accesstoken" at the end of the URL and provide it under "URL to markdown file". That didn't help, either.

Could you help with a trick?

Would be highly appreciated!!

Hi @Kristin Beck ,

We are from Bobswift support team and thanks for posting your issue here and we are happy to help you !

Can you please provide us below additional details for further analysis on this issue.

* Can you please let know how to you have added images to file. Can you please provide us syntax you used.
* Can you please provide us sample README.md file which contains the images so that we can validate from our end.
* Also can you please copy paste image url in browser and check whether you are able to see the image.
* Can you directly copy the markdown content from file and add it to Markdown macro instead of Markdown-url macro and check whether it works for you.
* Additionally, can you please provide Confluence and Markdown for Confluence app version. Please provide us sample screenshot of page where you see image is missing.
* Also can you please use below sample content in markdown macro and let us know whether it displays the image as mentioned in markdown.

Hey Avinash,

thank you very much for your reply!

In regards to your questions, please find the answers in chronological order:

a) Syntax:

Select the downloaded VSIX file.

![vscode-install-extension](../pics/vscode-install-extension.png

b) The syntax used above is representative for the README.md file. The most important info is that we try to include a mark-down with relative paths to the images.

The image URL is not displayed in the browser since our Bitbucket is protected via VPN and not accessible directly via the Internet. Hence, we tried to add a private access token generated in Bitbucket, as addition to the the image URL, by adding this acccess token "&accesstoken" at the end of the image URL, as explained above:
https://bitbucket.name.company.com/projects/LALA/repos/flower/rose/raw/pics/example-pic.pngmd?at=xxx%xxx%xxx&accesstoken

c) We are unable to view the image in the browser when using this format to view the image:
https://bitbucket.name.company.com/projects/LALA/repos/flower/rose/raw/pics/example-pic.pngmd?at=xxx%xxx%xxx&accesstoken

d) and f) Done, doesn't work.

Edit-mode

Image URL.pngNo edit-mode
No edit mode Test CD.png

e) Confluence. 7.4.5, Mark-down App: 3.6.0

The image is missing here when using the "Markdown from URL" app with the URL leading to the file:
component.png

Using the direct IMAGE URL in the Markdown App, instead of the URL leading to the file,

Image URL.png

I hope this helps to understand our problem.

Best,

Kristin
