How to change .git/config file in BitBucket to indicate a different location for .gitignore file

Randy Johnson November 8, 2021

We installed BitBucket and created a repository for our ERP system. We initially used the default location for the global .gitignore file (ie, same location as the .git directory). We have a new requirement to place the global .gitignore file in a different directory. We made the change to all our developers systems. But now, when we use 'git push' to push to the respository, the changes in the repository are not pulled to others systems via 'git pull'. I am sure this is because we did NOT make the change on the BitBucket repository itself.

How do we make this change on the repository?

Thank you!!
