Dear Community of Bitbucket.
I have just created a new APP password for my Bitbucket account. I am using a windows device and I am slightly confused. How should I use this password? Should I worry about the windows credential manager ? Also, how can I pass this app password to a git client on windows.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards, George
Welcome to the community 🙂
Yes, if you could just remove the old credentials and configure the new authentication method using app password that will be better
Please find the ref here
https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/app-passwords
After removing the credentials, just clone the repo, the authentication will be interactive!!
Let me know if you have any queries
Thanks,
Pramodh
Dear Pramodh,
Thank you very much for your reply. Indeed that was very helpful for me.
I now know how to use the APP password when I create a new repository.
However, I still have one question. How can I update the password when I already have an existing clone of the repository. Should I delete my local repository and clone it again? Is there a way to "update" this authentication procedure without cloning again my local repository?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
George
