Rather than checking periodically when a certain branch is updated (committed to and pushed to the remote repo), I'd like to get an email (or other) notification from Bitbucket so I know to pull and update my off-shoot branches.
(Note: I already check once a day anyways, or whenever I go to create a new branch or commit etc)
Hi Dave,
Depending on the hosting type of Bitbucket, there are a few options that you can explore.
For Bitbucket Data Center and Server (hosted by you), have a look at the Repository notifications feature. In particular the Push notifications section.
If you are using Bitbucket Cloud (available at bitbucket.org and hosted by Atlassian), you can refer to the options described on the Manage email notifications for watched objects page.
I know it's been some time since you posted this, but I still hope this might be useful to others who might be looking for the same question.
Caterina
