Commits not correctly being linked to their author

celsocoutinho February 16, 2020

I have cloned a bitbucket repository to a new computer. Everything seemed to be ok, but when I committed for the first time, I noticed that on the repository on BitBucket, the user was not being recognised, as it was previously. In the attached screenshot, you can see what I mean: in the last commit, there's just my name, whereas on the previous commit there's a link to my profile on BitBucket.

I figured it out finally! Turns out I was using a different account on visual studio to the one I used to have while working on this project. Thus when I committed, Atlassian failed to map that account email with the email I use in my Atlassian account.

By clicking on the user which has a link already in the Commits, then Settings on the panel to the left, and then under "General" pick "Email Aliases", I was able to add the new email I was using on Visual Studio with the as an alias for my Atlassian account.
