Can you please let us know the sizing guide for bitbucket data center.

Grace Angel November 26, 2019

We will create approx.500 Repositories and 2000 to 2500 users would be using bitbucket. Can you please share the recommended sizing for bitbucket data center and also share the file share sizing guide ( based on what factors we would need to size the shared partition).

Kindly provide any links that will be helpful or what atlassian recommends.

Can we use file share and elastic search on same node?

Hi Grace,

There are some helpful sizing resources available, but some reading will be required to really understand how the recommendations fit with your environment. Bitbucket Data Center has several metrics that might vary across different companies and teams that affect server sizing.

According to our load profile guidelines, 500 repos with less than 3,000 users is what we'd classify as a Small data center environment.

First, I would recommend having a read through the Bitbucket Data Center resources page to understand how the backend services differ from the individual nodes. It sounds like you may already have some knowledge around NFS and elastic search, so that's a great start!

After that, having a read through the Scaling Bitbucket Server document and its linked documentation would help shake out the specific sizing guidelines for your environment. Since things like concurrent clones can have a large impact on the resources you'll need, it's recommended to work through the guidelines there rather than going with a one-size-fits-all approach.

Once you've worked through the scaling document, hopefully you'll feel comfortable with the numbers it generates. The Community is always here to answer follow-up questions!

Cheers,
Daniel
