Is the directory Shared/Search needed in a backup of bitbucket? It's very large. It seems like we could restore a backup and rebuild the search index if necessary. But I haven't found anything that made that clear.

Hi,
You are correct - the search directory contains the index of the bundled Elasticsearch instance. If that index is lost you can always trigger a reindex and it will be rebuilt from scratch.
