How can I trigger an automation to dump the sum of all worklogs for a task to a custom field?

Richard D'Ambrosio March 1, 2022

I am trying to trigger an automation that extracts a sum of all worklogs for each task and copies it to a custom field.  Currently, I have the following (photo).  Does anyone have any input suggestions?  Something to note: our organization uses Tempo for time tracking.

@Richard D'Ambrosio -

There is an already field "Time Spent" behind the scene that contains the sum of all worklog.

Hope this helps.

Just realized I forgot to add --- we use Tempo for time tracking.   I'm sure that changes things drastically in terms of extracting third party data into a custom field.

Hi Richard:

We have not used Tempo for time tracking.  I would recommend that reach out to Tempo directly for support to see how to pull in Tempo related time trackings content via Automation for Jira.

Looking at Automation for Jira Wiki page - https://confluence.atlassian.com/automation/smart-values-993924860.html

There is a section in reference to worklog, maybe this can give you some ideas.

Best, Joseph
