Jira portfolio hiding issues depending on hierarchy level

I have an Epic with 4 issues.

When I view Jira Portfolio on the Feature or Epic level, all 4 issues are shown under the Epic; when I switch to Story level, 2 of the stories are hidden.

As far as I can see, all 4 issues have the same relevant properties (status, version, issue type, board, etc); they all show up in the same boards. I tried re-importing all issues into the project, and made sure that the 4 issues were selected - but the end result is the same.

Any thoughts? I need to prioritize the backlog, and I am unable to do it on Portfolio due to this limitation.

Thank you!
