Auto Schedule - does it only look at selected issues?

I'm working on JAR for our teams and I'm trying to understand how to best use the Auto Schedule feature. If I add an Epic to a Roadmap and select just it to be scheduled, Auto Schedule puts it starting today. If I select other tickets as well, it seems to then include them in the calculations and schedules the new Epic out a bit. Only if I include all of my Epics does it correctly schedule the new Epic properly.

Am I understanding this correctly?

And if I do not want the other Epics to change, it still changes them, especially if their start date is in the past.

Anyone have some best practices for using the Auto Schedule feature?

Hi @Janene Pappas

earlier I learned to auto-scheduling relies heavily on "Remaining Estimate" and it is capable of setting Due Dates/End Dates, if configured properly.

The following thread helped me a lot in understanding the mechanism better:

Please also review the documentation:

Cheers,
Daniel
