By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to:
- Create an organization
- Describe what happens in the background when you create an organization
Create an organization by signing up for a product
Anyone with an Atlassian account can sign up for an Atlassian Cloud product. When they do so, they automatically create a new Atlassian Cloud organization and site. Links to sign up or start a free trial are available on Atlassian’s product pricing pages.
👉 For example: Bob has an Atlassian account. While logged into his account, he views the Jira pricing page and clicks the link to start a standard plan trial. He enters his company’s site prefix, “woozelmania.” Atlassian automatically creates a new organization, site, and product.
No payment details are required when starting a cloud plan trial.
Create an empty organization without products
It is possible to create an empty Atlassian Cloud organization without signing up for a product.
A user can do this by going to admin.atlassian.com/o/create, then typing the organization name, and then clicking Create. The user is then invited to subscribe to Atlassian Guard, which is optional.
This results in an organization that has no sites or products. The org admin can add those later through the Products page.
What happens when you create an organization?
Several notable events always occur during the organization creation process. The admin hub displays all of these configurations for org admins and admins with access to view later.
👇 Click the boxes below to uncover the background events that occur during site creation.
There are other events that can take place in the background, but these events will always occur.
