By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe how Rovo Chat uses your work context to provide relevant answers
  • Identify the types of actions Rovo Chat can take on your behalf

Rovo Chat helps you work smarter

Rovo Chat is a conversational AI assistant built into the tools your team already uses. It uses your work context from Atlassian apps and connected third-party platforms to answer questions, help you draft content, take actions, and learn new information, all through a natural chat interface.

Rovo Chat keeps your conversations private and only accesses content you have permission to view.

Get contextual answers and insights

Rovo Chat understands your questions in context and provides tailored responses. You can ask complex questions across multiple projects, request summaries of lengthy documents, or get quick definitions of unfamiliar terms.
👉 For example: Shruti, a project manager, needs to catch up on her team's work before a sync meeting. Instead of reading through dozens of Confluence pages and Jira boards, she asks Rovo Chat to summarize recent activity on her team's project. In seconds, she has a clear picture of what's changed: decisions made, blockers flagged, and tasks completed.
👇 Rovo Chat provides contextually relevant information and insights.

Take actions directly in chat

Rovo Chat goes beyond answering questions by helping you complete work directly from the conversation. You can use it to create Jira work items, generate Confluence pages, visualize data in charts, assign work, and more without switching tools.
You're always in control. When Rovo suggests an action, you decide whether to take it.

Learn and ramp up faster

Picking up new context is one of the biggest time sinks at work, whether you're onboarding to a new project, trying to understand an unfamiliar codebase, or catching up after time off.
Rovo Chat helps by providing:
  • Quick definitions of internal terms, acronyms, and project names
  • Concise summaries of long documents or complex threads
  • Context-aware explanations grounded in your organization's actual knowledge (not generic internet results)
👉 For example: Marcus just joined a new team and keeps encountering acronyms and project names he doesn't recognize. Instead of searching Confluence or asking teammates, he asks Rovo Chat and gets immediate explanations drawn from his organization's own documentation.

How you can use Rovo Chat

Here are some ways to put Rovo Chat to work:

Prepare for a meeting
"What are the open blockers for the platform team's current sprint?"
Draft content
"Write a Confluence page summarizing our Q2 retrospective decisions"
Take action
"Create a Jira task for the design team to review the new onboarding flow"
Understand unfamiliar terms
"What does DACI mean in the context of our decision-making framework?"
Analyze data
"Show me a chart of bugs created vs. resolved over the past 4 weeks"
