Maintain your certification
Keep your certification valid
Atlassian certifications are globally recognized credentials built by experts. Earning and maintaining them proves your knowledge and skills in Atlassian apps and cloud admin roles.
You’ll find career-advancing professional certifications that prove your admin expertise and help you stand out as a trusted expert. But even if you’ve never configured a Jira space or a Confluence site, you can still boost your career with an associate certification in one of our powerful Teamwork Collection apps, Atlassian cloud, or Jira Service Management.
Atlassian certifications are valid for 24 months. Then, you’ll have an additional 90-day grace period to renew your certification either by retaking the exam or by earning continuing education units (CE units).
If you choose to earn CE units, you can create a personalized experience that truly enriches your knowledge and skills, keeping you up-to-date with the latest developments through learning and even connecting you with your peers during Atlassian events.
You may also opt to retake the exam to renew your certification. However, the retake can only be completed within six months prior to the expiration date.
If you have earned an Atlassian certificate, which is a distinct category separate from certifications, it will be valid for 12 months. After that, you can retake the quick, free exam to re-up.
Earn continuing education units
You can earn CE units with Atlassian Learning and Atlassian events:
Atlassian Learning: You can take independent courses on Atlassian Learning or attend a class or watch a webinar from Atlassian’s instructor-led learning program. Members of the Atlassian Partners Program are also eligible to take courses with the Enablement Academy.
Submit continuing education units
After earning CE units, you can enter them in the CM Connect candidate portal, where you’ll find detailed instructions. You’ll need to share:
- Whether you participated in learning or an event
- The date you participated
- The name of the learning you took or the event you attended
- A screenshot showing course completion or event attendance
View your continuing education units progress
The candidate portal features a dashboard that displays your renewal progress.

Explore how to keep ACA and ACP certifications active
You’ll need 50 CE units to renew an ACA certification. ACA certifications are designed for professionals who use Atlassian apps in their jobs. They’re entry-level credentials that help you showcase your Atlassian knowledge and skills to boost your career.
You’ll need 100 CE units to renew an ACP certification. ACP certifications are crafted for Atlassian solution administrators. They highlight advanced skills, helping you stand out as a skilled and trusted expert.
The same CE units will be applied to both types of certifications and all certifications you hold, so you won’t need to earn separate CE units if you have more than one certification.
When you enter your activities, you'll need to attach documentation, such as a screenshot, a PDF, or an image, that demonstrates you completed a course or attended an event.
Here are your options:
Activity | Limit* | CE units |
Complete an Atlassian Learning course | None | 10 |
1 | 30 | |
4 | 10 | |
Presenting at a global Atlassian event or an ACE | 1 | 20 |
* We limit the number of times you can use each activity during a renewal cycle because we hope you’ll participate in both learning and events. Our team of Learning experts refreshes and revises our courses as Atlassian apps and roles evolve, so regularly taking courses will help you stay up to date.
