What is Rovo Search?
Rovo Search enables users to efficiently find information across Atlassian and connected third-party applications. It supports searching for data, answers to questions, and documents within the Atlassian tools already in use, reducing the need to switch between different platforms.

What is Rovo Chat?
Rovo Chat is an AI assistant that provides a conversational interface for accessing knowledge, automating tasks, generating new ideas, and getting useful feedback.
Rovo Chat respects user permissions.
👉 For example: If a user asks a question, it will only search pages and work items that the user has permission to view.
Discuss new ideas and get answers to questions with Rovo Chat
Rovo Chat is an AI assistant built into Atlassian tools that uses your work context (in Atlassian and connected third‑party apps) to give relevant help. It can answer complex questions, summarize pages, help draft content, and find specific information, while respecting your permissions and keeping chats private to you.
👉 For example: Shruti, a project manager, uses Rovo Chat to summarize the latest updates on her team's Confluence pages. This allows her to stay informed without spending hours reading through each page.
👇 Rovo Chat provides contextually relevant information and insights.

Take actions in Rovo Chat
Actions allow teams to perform various tasks directly within the chat interface, such as creating or assigning Jira work items, generating Confluence pages, visualizing data through charts, identifying incident root causes, and more. You are always in control of actions. When you see a recommended action in Chat, you can decide whether to take it.
👇 Take action directly within the Rovo Chat panel.

Use Rovo Chat to gain knowledge effortlessly
Learning new information can be time-consuming and challenging. Rovo Chat helps by offering quick definitions, concise summaries, tailored insights, and context-aware answers within your existing tools, so users can efficiently access the information they need to perform their tasks.
What are Rovo Agents?
Rovo Agents are configurable AI tools designed to perform specific tasks, automate repetitive work, and support multi-step processes. Users can choose from a selection of pre-built agents or create custom agents using Rovo Studio.
👉 For example: Maya and her team have made a decision that they want input on before sharing with their senior leadership. They use the Decision Director agent in Rovo Agents to review and critique their decision and make helpful suggestions, following the DACI decision-making framework.
Rovo Agents perform tasks according to user-defined objectives and parameters, supporting a range of activities to assist with work processes.
👉 Another example: Agents can create, review, and refine content, complete steps within a workflow, perform cleanup tasks, provide answers or critiques, and more.
You can use Rovo Agents to:
- Automate repetitive tasks
- Facilitate multi-step processes
- Assist with complex issues
Agents reduce the need for repetitive context-setting because their roles and actions are already built in. They possess domain-specific knowledge and have access to relevant data sources, enabling them to provide accurate information and make informed decisions. Agents respect permissions and will only show and act on information that the current user has access to.

There are Agents created by Atlassian that customers can use when they enable Rovo.
Agents can be configured by human team members in Studio to include additional knowledge or actions.
What is Rovo Studio?
Rovo Studio app consolidates Atlassian's building tools in a single location, allowing teams to manage their work and access information more efficiently.
Rovo Studio enables users to:
Rovo Studio enables users to:
- Build agents: Create custom AI-driven agents that can perform specific tasks or provide information based on organizational data and user-defined objectives.
- Build automations: Design and implement automation rules to streamline repetitive processes and reduce manual effort.
- Create content hubs: Set up centralized locations for teams or the entire organization to access curated, verified information, resources, and documentation.
- Manage assets: Oversee and organize assets such as configuration items, resources, or inventory within the platform, supporting visibility, tracking, and efficient management.
👉 For example: With Rovo Studio, a team can create a custom agent that automatically reviews new Jira work items, assigns priority and category, and routes them to the appropriate team member, reducing manual triage work.
How does Rovo work?
Rovo uses Atlassian’s proprietary common data model, the Teamwork graph, to understand relationships and context within your organization. Teamwork graph pulls in data from your Atlassian tools and connected third-party apps to provide a comprehensive view of your organization’s goals, knowledge, teams, and work. The Teamwork graph builds connections and insights as more tools are connected and teams do their work, delivering increasingly relevant results.
Combined with OpenAI’s large language models, this self-hosted foundation enables Rovo to generate human-like text and actionable insights tailored to each user, team, and workflow—all while maintaining strict data privacy and security.
Atlassian's LLM partners don't:
- Store customer data
- Utilize customer data to benefit other customers or to refine their models or services
