That looks like you have installed my Gantt-Chart version for JIRA 6.x on an older JIRA 5.x, which are not compatible. I will publish v2.3.3 for JIRA 5.2 soon.

I suggest to download the UPM v2.8 from the Atlassian Marketplace and install it via the "upload" button on "manage plugins" in order to work around that problem with the self-update. Does this work for you?
