If you want to do this in a couple clicks in a simple ui, you can use our app in place of ScriptRunner https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=server&tab=overview

We make a plugin which allows you to build custom notification templates that contain whatever content you want: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=server&tab=overview

Hi Michael, We make Notification Assistant for Jira (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=server&tab=overview) which can easily be configured to do exactly this. Let me know if you need help. Boris

Hey David, take a look at https://atlasauthority.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NAFJ/pages/930381832/Placeholders
-
Hi David, In our app you could trigger a notification on issue creation that matches a specific JQL and then configure an appropriate notification template with the fields and other text you want. I would encourage you to trial it and if you have any issues, open a support request…

We support doing this in Notification Assistant for Jira https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email

I would absolutely say you should contact support@codedoers.atlassian.net and see if they can make the change as a core of the product for you. The latest review on their app even says "We made a feature request based on how we'd like to configure the plugin, and the CodeDoers team accepted our request and added it to…

What is the app that you're hacking? You may have more luck asking the vendor to modify it for you. We support similar types of changes in Notification Assistant for Jira (we make this) and tweak the available placeholders based on customer feedback all the time.
-
In the meantime, one option is to use a third party app like Notification Assistant for Jira (we make this).

Hi Shadow, To disable Service Desk notifications to your customers you would go to the Customer Notifications portion of the Project Configuration: To disable notifications to your Agents you would go to the Notifications portion of your Project Configuration: Thanks, Boris

I have seen a few people asking similar questions in other threads but they never got resolved. Since modifying VM templates is unsupported I am not sure if we're going to find a solution anytime soon. In the meantime, one option is to use a third party app like Notification Assistant for Jira (we make this).

If you want a way to send more configureable emails without having to write code, we have an easy UI to configure this kind of thing https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview
-
Take a look at the docs at https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-desk-cloud/docs/receive-requests-from-an-email-address/
-
If you would like to do to this without writing code, you can do this using our app Notification Assistant for Jira https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=server&tab=overview

They are not recorded in any way.
-
You can also use a third party app which supports emailing arbitrary recipients like https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview We support either hardcoded email addresses, or you can use a text field where you have your users type the email alias.
-
You can customize emails for Jira by changing code like Nic mentioned, or you can use a third party app that does this. We make https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview to help with this.
-
The best thing I can imagine is to write a script using ScriptRunner or something which does this parsing on create.
-
If you are on Server/DC then you could do this using the minimum issue count feature in https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview
-
@Jesse Jenken are you on Jira Cloud or Server/DC? We're working on a solution to this for all platforms.
-
If you're using Service Desk, why don't you want to create users for them? Otherwise yes you can use a third party plugin like JEMH that Andrew linked, or we make https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview which also solves for this use case.
-
Is this in Service Desk? If so we make https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219283/mail-attachments-for-jira-service-desk?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview which solves this exact problem. If this is in Jira Software we're going to be adding this functionality…

Worked easily
-

-
You can do this as part of the template editor in https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211069/notification-assistant-for-jira-email?hosting=server&tab=overview

I am not sure what you mean, your mail client still parses the email and choses how it is displayed. Have you taken the received email and looked in the raw mail headers? My guess is that "Incorrect name" is not specified there. If it is, then your local relay may be adding that.
