Hi @Neven Plakalovic , in general you may do this with automations or scripts by other apps. But before you start on this I would like to point you to the fact that the data might be very volatile. If you have a lot of issues, that are changing over time, all needs to invalidate the aggregated data and might be wrong or…

@Marina Shelestiuk pls consider that this rule will only work, if you change some story points. But if you add a story that has already some story points, like moving to another Epic, this will not update the calculation.

Hi everybody! I started using Jira as part of an experiment in my last job as Scrum Master in 2010. After I fought some fights they let me introduce Atlassian to the company as a game changer. That made me Jira Admin and in 2014 I created my own Company (APTIS) to become Atlassian Partner. I Still worked as project manager…

Agree on @Trudy P Claspill , but you will never be able to customize the basic Level 1 (Epic) and Level 0 (Story or anything not in another level) to something that works with the default boards like Kanban and Scrum. So the tradeoff to use a personal adjusted hierarchy is that Jira Software won´t work as expected. So: if…

Hi @Jyotsna Chimakurthi , there might be some automations around but they are limited to the admins that create this and need to jump in every time it needs changes. Maybe you would consider to use our app, which has this use case in mind to summarize everything that is number or time based, like this: You can do this with…
-
Hi @Adam Taylor , can you provide us a screenshot of your concept? Maybe I got it wrong.. But what I would suggest is to use Epics as projects and use Issues as their child issues to express the work items and their sub-tasks for breakdown of tasks. Jira Projects are no real projects as they don´t have a life cycle and are…

yes, it is.. the cloud is very limited when it comes to such requirements. that is why we developed this app. of course it does a lot more that could be helpful. without any App it could be difficult to achieve. the are too many limitations.
-
Hey @Wade H , is something like this what you are looking for?
-
Hi @wad , Do you need the values at the Epic Level for filtering or sorting? Are you on Cloud or DC?
-
Hi @Gerzaín Díaz , are you looking for something like this: This is done with Epic Sum Up (our App) budget function. There is no budgeting function in Jira without apps. on Issue level, you may create some automation calculations, but that would not respect any aggregation of issue IN an Epic. Hope that helps..
-
Well, Jira is very limited in case of using Issues like Epics.. Sol if you need a functionality to be Container of other issues, you could use Epic Sum UP(our App) on DC to add this functionality. If you are looking for different use cases without changing the issue type, you can do: - assign different worklfows per…
-
Hi @Heba Hasan , Some years ago, I had the same issue and developed a Plugin that helps me to get more overview. Maybe you are looking for something like this: That is the Dashboard Gadget of Epic Sum Up (our Plugin). Any Progress bar can be clicked which opens an Overview and Editor for all Issues in the related Epic.
-
Hi @Kenan Carames , we use Issues( Epics) as projects from the beginning in 2014. The reason was very simple: as long as you use Issues as projects, you benefit from issues capabilities, as there are: - workflows : projects have lifecycles (JIRA-Projects (JPs) don´t) - automations: you can use a lot of automated stuff as…

This is my oldest memories about strong loving couple ;)
-
But how can a Task be a child issue of Story? Jira doesn´t support stacking of Issues out of the box. That only works for Epics. But there are several solutions to solve that: - Jira Roadmaps: add static hierachy Levels ABOVE Epics (define parent Item at child) - Structure: Create custom structures in a self contained data…

Hi Jack, thank you for recommending Epic Sum Up. The free Version sums up Time only, but the full version sums up everything you want. Looks like this:
-
Great, so lets have a look at it soon ;)
-
Hi @Jonathan Kim , 1. see the markeplace for prices: it depends on your user count ;) 2. There is not data stored outside of Jira, Epic Sum Up does just display what is already there and give more options for live reports and editing. We are the vendor of Epic Sum Up (APTIS) - Epic Sum Up is my "baby", I am the product…
-
Ok, do you think about something like this:
-
Ok, why do you want to store this value at the Epic? (in comparison to show and live calculate it there?)
-
Hi @Jonathan Kim , If you need help to set up up, just email me at: a.haaken@aptis.info I can help you to get the most out of it. ;) and: yes Epic Sum Up can do this..
-
Hi @Jonathan Kim , well you need to define what to see (JQL) and a report that understands the structure of your projects. here are some examples from Epic Sum Up that summarize values to the content of a filter: in this case Epics of a Project The progress bars summarize the logged time (but can be anything else and more…
-
Hi @Yaron Azar , what do you have in mind if you say "storing in parent"? all values are calculated on the fly as they are very volatile. But you can snapshot data by using API on DC/Server. For the support of Jira Roadmaps: I can send you info about planing and we can test on beta as it is already developed. Juts waitiing…
-
Well there are a lot of reports that may help you, but Jira is intended to solve anything in a basic Jira way. And time tracking per Epic is not the agilest way ;) So the let these "corner cases" be done by apps. There are many other plugins that do help you in this area, but Epic Sum Up is the only one that adds a summary…
-
Hi @Yaron Azar , you may use something like Epic Sum Up (our plugin) to summarize whatever you want in a summary panel: and in the next version (3.10) we will release the support for any roadmap hierarchy..
-
Hi @Alberto Hernández , well as long as there are no containers so far, you need Jira Software Licenses to use Epics as Containers. But with some configs you can use Epics in Business projects and the you can use Epic Sum Up to manage them very easy. But we are actually creating Container function for the cloud, that will…
-
Hi Jonathan , Epic Sum Up (our plugin) does this by adding a summary panel that shows the time logg (and many more). From that panel and all other progressbars, you may open a Detail View and send your Issues to the build in Timesheet: Do you think that helps?
-
Hi @bmacd , would that be something that could help you: Its a dashboard from our Addon: Epic Sum Up cheers andreas
-
In totally agree your point. But it seems that this will not be served in the near future, there are more highly requested features on the rooster. That´s one of the reasons that vendors start building apps. Your case is maybe similar to ours some years ago: we need Story Points for some developers teams and time tracking…

Hi @Vitor Seabra , there are some things going on at this. Atlassian announced to deprecate some of the link types to use only the parent link so that this can be used for all connections.. But just to understand your reply: what is the benefit of using the same logic for subtasks and issue parental links? I am asking…
