Can you tell me more about your second question? Custom fields related to Compass values, how are you thinking about using this?

Got it. Yup, right now the API is your best bet. 

hi @Rafał Mnich great question. If you are using Bitbucket or Github for CI/CD then all the deployments will automatically show up in Compass once you have the correct app installed. Jira listens to those same events if you are using the SCM features. Is this what you're referring to, or are you talking about events…

At the moment no, the field name isn't changeable. You can set up a custom field with automation to simulate the Components field, but it would be managed at the level with all other custom fields (as opposed to being project specific.)
