@Sami Shaik in fact you do not need to check webresponse status. Just use body in smart function like {{#if(webresponse.body.match("(specific pattern)")}}result{{/}} It may take some time to get used to, but many of my rules use this approch eliminating steps for branching. I found it in archives as an example. It provides…

@Sami Shaik I recall that Data Center with Assets had an opportunity to run a groovy script for Post Functions. Sadly cloud does not allow it.

I guess sprints, components and versions are safe to delegate, as well as screens. Field configuration is less safe since employees may not understand the concept fully. Workflows, permission schemes, notifications and rules are no no. Only admin together with user.
-
Looks like we will need to move most automations into workflow post functions. Hopefully Atlassian will not start charging for every workflow step.
-
> The scheme is used by twelve projects, so there's no scope at which the change is safely local. It is only one side of a coin. Imagine a project with 20000 issues (sorry for my old slang) and employee who has little experience in jira administration deletes some statuses and replaces them with new statuses and…
-
Does not look really safe for me if they can type or inject group name. Just imagine if everyone adds himself to jira-administrators :) Even if frontend is 100% reliable the backend can be vulnerable. If intruder knows that jira admin tocken is somewhere on the web site he will attempt to attack infrastructure.
-
I allow employees to admin spaces/projects. If employee is VIP (e.g. head of department) he may have jira admin rights, but only if Security department approves and for a specific period of time. I have backup in IT department who can replace me if I am on vacation, but he has clear instructions not to get involved in…

Every change in Jira in our organization is done via a service desk request. When I alter a workflow I increase the version to its tile (E.g. Development v.1.1 becomes Development v.1.2), add service desk request URL to comment and make a backup. This way if anyone asks me why changes were made I quickly send them the…

Users of our instance usually storm me with requests to return everything back after UI updates. I think Atlassian could try to make them optional. I understand that is much easier for them to have only one branch in git for the code and it is much easier for support, but still I prefer project over space and it is hard to…

This seems to be working {{issue.summary.match("(SD\s*-\s*\d+)").asJsonString}} Unfortunately asJsonString seems not to be the String class object. replace function does not work. However I am fine with result since it works both for single and multiple matches.
-
Oh wow. In case of several matches the function returns a comma separated string of matches (in fact list). In case of single match the function returns just a single value. No brackets nothing. What a mess.
-
Could someone please explain to me why ^last does not work with list returned by match? {{#issue.summary.match("SD\s*-\s*(\d+)")}}SD-{{.}} {{^last}} , {{/}}{{/}} For summary like Some example SD-12354 some example it returns SD-12354 , Should return SD-12354 If it is by design maybe someone can help me with alternative…

I want to add that developers may not know about special policy towards a specific customer. Imagine that company is in the process of signing a new agreement with a customer and developer says something that is technically true but may ruin all efforts to sign an agreement. Or for example say a rude word. Developers…

Our L1 team works in Service Desk while L2 and developers stay in Jira. When support cannot resolve an issue it selects special status FOR DEVS in workflow. Automation rule creates an exact copy of the initial request in Jira and puts there all comments and attachments. Another automation rule in Jira closes support…

1. No 2. Perhaps plugin creation. I have some ideas how to mimic a service desk using a plugin in Jira, but want to be sure it is possible in theory.
-
We use standard Version field which has start and finish dates. When version is released it triggers an event and automation rule can calculate the difference between now and release date and put it somewhere. I don't think any ai is needed here.

@Vlad - RaleyApps mine workflow has 3 approvals. Regional representative (based on the region of reporter), dep head and team lead of the employee. It all can be done by assets and rules. In fact the smart values language in rules allows to perform miracles, e.g. it has JSON support, so rule can make a web request, e.g. to…

@Tim Martin for the last I took opensource calendar plugin from Atlassian and modified it to display assets. It takes date of asset expiry and displays an event in calendar. If one clicks it browser redirects to a service desk request form with prefilled values (you can pass values in URL).

@Julia Foden maybe I used improper wording. It is not wrong, it is the source of problems as any restriction. Many times users come to me and ask "Why I cannot transit the work item to next step". It takes time to find out and explain giving I have 150 spaces in my Jira. I think it is better to explain to user why he…
-
My rule of a thumb. If workflow has intersecting lines then something is wrong. If any status has more than 3 outgoing transactions something is wrong. If there are conditions like "Only people in Design role can move issue to this status" then something is wrong.
-
What enlarges complexity is when several teams work on a single work item. Typical example: task is made from requirements and system analytic takes it to work, then passes to product owner to add it to plan, then developer investigates possible solutions, then he develops the code and passes to code review, then code is…
-
@Craig Williams we definetely need more examples in Service Desk documentation. I also find gems from time to time that help me do things that I did not even know are possible. Especially for asset fields filters and placeholders.
-
@Karsten Gutjahr yes, for about 2 years now. In fact we did a lot of services like this one, e.g. Onboarding, Access Management and so on. Our portal already has 11 spaces and keeps growing. Even if team does not do actual work in Service Desk project we collect approvals there and then copy request to Jira project with…

This solution has many features of our procurement system. But we also have approval from team lead of requestor (just for the sanity reasons, to not let people order things they don't need). And also we have budgets. If order is within budget limit for the month it is approved by dep head, if it is not budget is reviewed…

Usually project owner gives me an order to archive the project. We first create a postfunction in workflows that displays a message "You cannot create issues in this project, please use project XXXX". If he confirms the project is not needed by anyone we make changes to permission scheme making it visible to only project…

@Maria Reisinger _MetaFrazo_ just check https://<your_jira>/rest/auditing/latest/events https://<your_jira>/rest/api/latest/auditing/record You don't even need curl or postman, if you are logged in Jira will use your cookies for authentication. I think Excel can import JSON and convert it into worksheet.

I guess if Atlassian makes templates for Description I will be able to persuaded users to get rid of most custom fields. A typical example - description of bug: System: xxx Steps to introduce: xxx Probability: 100% ... Right now users need 3 or more fields to fill. If we had easy to use template that exists just on issue…

I think Jira has pretty good REST API. You can keep original configuration in readonly text file and perform audit once per month by forming a new file with curl or a python script and making diff. I have something similair for project access rights. We are not allowed to add individual users to projects. Script checks…
-
@Suresh in fact all you need is to put %s into the URL you need to open instead of project key. E.g. if you want to open Users and Roles section in on-prem use this URL https://yourjira/plugins/servlet/project-config/%s/roles

You go to chrome://settings/searchEngines in Chrome, then click Manage search engines and site search, then scroll down to site search and click Add I have the following for Jira Name: Jira Shortcut: j URL: https://myjira/issues/?jql=key=%s When I press j and tab in search string I type issue number and get into Jira…
