I tried to add images to an article but I am getting permissions problem (worked before)

This works only with fields that are added directly to the screen. But Jira Forms should come with their own conditions

Hi, If you prefer working with a UI instead of writing Jira Expressions manually, our team created Ultimate Validator, which builds the expression for you and makes these kinds of requirements much easier to configure. Here’s how it looks for your case: I’m from Forgappify, the vendor of the app. Ultimate Validator is…

Hi @Luciana Góes To require users to add an attachment during a transition, you can use the Field Required workflow validator (select Attachment). Also, make sure the Attachment field is included on the screen associated with the transition — you can do this by adding a Show Screen to the transition. If you’d like to allow…

I didn't test this yet, but there is a Forge module: Jira action validator (Preview), which supports workItemTypeChanged action. There is no dynamic modules yet in Forge, so there won't be any marketplace app, but, in theory, you can create a very basic forge app, basically with just a manifest and hardcode expression,…

Hi @Trudy P Claspill Yes and no — for the Issue Create dialog, the UI Modification API can hide issue type options. This means that apps like Behaviours or Field Rules – UI Modifications can handle this scenario. It’s also possible to add a Jira Expression-based validator to the Create Issue transition to prevent creating…

Hi @Yannik The only ways to transition an issue automatically are by using Automation or by adding a post function to the transition. If you’re open to using apps, our team developed the Transition Work Items post function, which is part of the Workflow Building Blocks app. Thanks to our powerful preconditions, you can…

That’s awesome — congrats to all of you!
-
Hi @Sascha H_ Great to hear that! Please let me know how the testing went and if there’s anything we can do to improve the app to better support your customers. Cheers

No, only validators can prevent the transition. I don't think thats possible using Assignee field. You can on the other hand create custom User Picker and in configuration filter the selection to a group.
-
This is what official docs says: * groups: The list of names for all the groups the user belongs to. Note that, while you can access your groups, you need Administer Jira global permission to see groups other users belong to (List<String>). * N groupIds: The list of IDs of all the groups the user belongs to. Note that,…

Hi @Gaetano Turturro The thing is, when you try to read user project roles or groups in a Jira expression, you need Project Administrator or Global Administrator permissions, respectively. Since the validator runs as the current user during a transition, and that user might not have those permissions, it won’t work in that…

Hi @Sharon In case you’re open to using apps, I’d like to suggest an alternative. I’m from Forgappify, and we developed Ultimate Validator, which recently received an upgrade. It now allows you to require fields conditionally using when–then clauses. Each time you add another clause (with AND, OR, or THEN logic), a new…

Hi @Martina Steiner I’m not sure if this is currently possible using out-of-the-box rules. However, if you have any third-party app that works with Jira Expressions, it becomes much simpler. There are several options available on the Atlassian Marketplace—look for Jira Expressions Validator. Some free apps support this,…

Hi @Mahnoor Arshad If you’re working in a company-managed project on Cloud, our team has developed the Linked Issues Validator for this exact use case. It provides a simple UI that lets you block a transition until the selected related issues (in your case, sub-tasks) are in the required status. It also allows you to…

There are several options available on the Atlassian Marketplace—look for Jira Expressions Validator. Some free apps allow you to do this, but you will need to learn the Jira Expression syntax. I’m from Forgappify, and we developed Ultimate Validator, which lets you build custom validators using only the UI, no knowledge…
-
Hi Claudia, Without 3rd party validator there is no easy way. Do you have any Jira Expression-based validators installed on your Jira? Cheers
-
Hi @Samantha Isherwood From what I understand, you need a conditional validator. This isn’t possible out of the box in Jira. Your transition disappears because you’re probably trying to use Conditions, which hide transitions. On the other hand, classic validators can’t easily be combined with AND or OR logic — something…
-
Hi @jessica_huebner The out-of-the-box Field Required Validator works differently for a few fields, such as Attachments, Comments, and Time Spent. For these fields, the built-in validator enforces that an attachment or comment is added during the transition, ignoring any items that were previously added. Third-party…

Since some time the Epic Link has been replaced in Jira by parent field. Is there a Parent option? Maybe check that
-
Hi @İclal Aslan, no it won't work, to make it work, you will need 3rd party validator or create some workaround with automation that would revert the transition
-
Hi @Durga Prasad I have replied to youe question here: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Re-Re-Hi-Team-How-to-validate-cascading-field-in-both-p/qaq-p/3077929/comment-id/1139068#M1139068 Cheers

Hi @Rees, Ian To answer your question, let me introduce the Ultimate Validator — a feature we developed as part of the Workflow Building Blocks for Jira app. It was designed to simplify working with Jira Expressions. The built-in Jira Expression Preview helps you understand how each expression is constructed.Since you're…
-
Hi @Durga Prasad Yes, it is possible using the OR operator, although you need to slightly adjust the logic. The validator should allow the transition only when the conditions are met. Therefore: Check whether "value 1" is not selected OR, if it is selected, check whether the XYZ custom field is mandatory It will look like…

Hi @SUVARNA Dixit Depending on the case and the project type you are using, I know that if you have a Jira expression-based validator, you can validate the state of the Pull Request during a transition. I have answered similar question…
-
Hi @Harold Prestage I don't think it is possible out of the box. Did you use any apps that provided Jira expression-based validator? Or did you setup an Automation to revert the transition if condition were not met? Cheers
-
Hi @Nick Rally There is an open feature request that is related to this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-94848 Cheers
-
Hi @Jesse Hamburger I'm not sure about visualization, but I did handle a similar case using validation. However, this requires a third-party validator. This is because the out-of-the-box validators only check values entered during the transition, whereas Jira Expression-based validators can access both the current and new…

Hi @Durga Prasad To answer your question, allow me to introduce the Ultimate Validator — a feature we developed as part of the Workflow Building Blocks for Jira for Jira app. It solves your use case without requiring you to learn Jira Expressions. At the same time, the built-in Jira Expression Preview feature allows you to…

Hi @RAMCEL MAGNAYE It depends on the type of issue link you're working with. For simple relations like parent-subtask, there’s a built-in condition called "Restrict based on the status of subtasks". This works well out of the box, but it hides the status and doesn’t allow you to show any custom warning messages to guide…
