Hi @annkatrin_e - thanks for reaching out! We don't have plans to allow the default roles to be modified. We know that our defaults won't meet every customer's needs, so we have introduced the ability to disable the default roles - this is already live. Role-based access is already GA - the rollout has been underway since…
-
@Gary Spross - we're thinking the same thing re: permissions templates (we'll probably just call them schemes) for Confluence! Would love to dive in more with you on how you'd like them to work in Confluence / integrate with Jira! Feel free to email me - mcasabonne@atlassian.com - so we can set-up some time to chat!

Hi @Mathew Lederman - this release doesn't change how product licensing or space/content access requests work. Today, you can control whether your end users are able to invite users directly to Confluence via app access settings. We do have plans to give Confluence admins the ability to turn off space and content access…

+1 to what @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ shared - As a Confluence admin, you can enable the roles feature for your site on your own. Go to Confluence administration (the gear icon) > Configuration > New features where you will see the option to opt-in to the Roles beta.
-
Hi @Christopher Kraft - We're looking to get the GA release onto our public roadmap in the next few months for all customers to follow the release date. A few important things to note about the GA release: * When roles is released, no access will change - all users, groups, etc. will still have the same access, represented…
-
Hi @Oliver Hilger - As a Confluence admin, you can enable the feature for your site by going to Confluence administration (the gear icon) > Configuration > New features where you will see the option to opt-in to the Roles beta.
-
@Jared Schmitt - Glad you're a Roles central fan! What features are you finding will bring the most longterm value to your team? @Rita Nygren & @Wayne_Reilly - We plan to share a GA timeline within the next few months, giving you plenty of notice and time to transition. We're committed to making this as smooth as possible…

Hey folks, thanks for the comments and feedback! Responses below, but before I jump into those I do have a request for you all. We're conducting research to learn how you as admins plan to implement roles across your organization in Confluence (details here). * Timeframe: Now through Wednesday, October 8 * Participation: 1…

@Martin - confirmed we have it in plans to add a filter for Apps (like users, groups, etc.)! @Michiel SCHUIJER - using Teams for managing space access is in the works! It's on our roadmap and the team is actively building it out now :) stay tuned for more detailed announcements and timelines in the next few months

Hi @Shahriman Mohammad - there are new APIs for new roles experience. Both the old & new apis will continue to work alongside each other for now. The new APIs can be found in our developer change log here. @Martin - appreciate your feedback around app users. I'll work with the team to see how we can improve the experience,…
-
Thanks for all the positive feedback so far, folks! @Tami Dubi - the Users table will only be viewable to users who are able to manage access in the space. In terms of our default roles, that means on users with the Admin or Manager role will see the "Users" table in space settings. Creating templates in the space is still…
-
Hi @Tere Pile - you can share your questions in our Beta community group as we just started the rollout of the opt-in beta for roles in Confluence last week.
-
Hey @Andy Gladstone - short links when copied from the Share button and share dialog footer have already rolled out to GA and should be available across all Confluence Cloud sites.
-
Thanks for the excitement, all! And I appreciate your questions, @Jared Schmitt. See my responses below: Will it be possible to modify default role permissions as Confluence admin? * It won't be possible to modify the default role permissions. * However, you can create a custom role that gives users the ability to manage…
-
Hey @Sascha Weber there is no way to disable the ability for empowered users to grant access (when the person they are sharing with will be blocked by parent content or space access) yet. I had already noted it internally, but I think a public feature request is the right approach. To help me craft a clear feature request…
-
I can't seem to @ mention you, WW, but a view-only role will be possible using a custom role. Our Viewer default role holds view & comment permissions, so if you wanted to create a true view-only role (that only holds the View content permission), you would do that through custom roles, which will be available in our Beta…
-
@Michiel Schuijer - Teams will be able to hold permissions and roles at the space level soon!
-
@Jonathan Smith - the Add people button will be at the top of the new combined Users table! I realize now that the mocks I included in this post don't have it there, but do trust it's in the top right (where users expect it to be).
-
@Roger - This is a confluence cloud feature, so no plans to roll it out to DC at this time.
-
@Koloman Pfeffer - Thanks for the feedback. How are you envisioning rbac for analytics? That there would be a permission at the space level that controlled what users / groups could user analytics, or something else?
-
Hi @Sascha Weber , thanks for your detailed use case overview. I want to clarify that the new sharing experience and the blocked access awareness flows are specific to Confluence only - none of these updates impact Jira. I hear your concern that with the AD and group-based Confluence access management system you have…
-
Hi @Shelley Duncan , Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand the transition to a unified access and sharing workflow has been challenging, and I'm sorry for any frustration the changes have caused for your users. While this change is separate from the new navigation updates, it is part of our broader effort to…
-
Hey @Don McFall I understand how important sharing with Teams is for your workflow, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by its temporary absence. We made the tough decision to release the new sharing experience without this feature because Teams currently can't be granted access to content or spaces. Rest assured,…
-
Thanks for your questions, @Amy Carey Yes, the default for sharing is notifications on. As of now, there is no global toggle to turn this setting off.
-
Hi @Steve Rhodes Yes, you’re spot on! This release is a unification of the two experiences you mentioned (access management via the restrictions dialog and sharing via the share dialog) into a single workflow. In addition to the features you highlighted, we also introduced blocked access awareness when sharing with…
-
Hi @Darryl Lee Thanks for your feedback. With this release, the Share button copy link action and the copy link action in the modal footer both build links in the following format: <mysite>.atlassian.net/wiki/x/XXXX Any links that follow the other format (<mysite>.atlassian.net/l/cp/XXXX) will still work and redirect to…
-
Hi @KD - thanks for asking. Yes! We're working to bring the short links back in a future release.
-
Hi @Ollie Guan - Thanks for your question. My understanding from your comment is that a permissions blocking mode would be something like: * Engineering Managers group (that includes ALL engineering managers across all levels) can View this content * Steve and Claire, who are in the Engineering Managers group, are…
-
Hey @Cosmo Denger. The interaction between Confluence and JSM is unchanged with the introduction of roles - unlicensed users will still be able to engage with Confluence and KB linked spaces as they do today.
-
Thanks, @Muhammad Fahad ! There are no planned changes to licensing. If your curious what access level Viewer will have (in addition to 'view content'), you can see the breakdown of permissions here.
