  • What I can contribute to this discussion is a hard-earned observation: preparing training materials for Jira is increasingly becoming a futile effort.Just last week, I finalized an internal update of our Jira Fundamentals and Jira Administration Basics training decks after the latest UI update — complete with issue…
  • I was also looking for the solution of this kind and found Enhanced Links. It actually works as expected - limits the types of links available. However, the problem is that Jira Cloud does not allow issue view panels to be turned off. This causes the necessity to display the regular panel with issue links (without…
  • @Nicole Schwartz I thought I would let you know, just in case, that once you deploy this long awaited change in the Cloud then remember to update the course 'Jira Governance and Housekeeping' for ASB-116. Please see the screenshot from this course. After your feature deployment, this answer will not be valid any more.
  • @Hassan Shahin I think (and I hope) that this is about bringing the standard Jira Server/DC functionality where you can have different sets of priorities associated with different Jira projects. For example: in project A you can have: * Low, Medium, High, Highest and in project B you can have * Low, High, Blocker
  • From my experience, if you do all sample questions well (like 9 of 10 correct) then it means that you are prepared. Take a look at some of my tricky JQL questions which I published some time ago https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/Jira-JQL-Best-Practices-for-ACP-Exam/ba-p/2144083 This article is also helpful:…
  • @[deleted] yes, this functionality is available only for admins. However, if your Jira instance is big, there will also be some governance around it to collaborate with users on enhanceement and data migration. If you know how to prepare your migration file in CSV, there usually will be someone workin via Service Desk (or…
  • I agree the knowing JQL is a must for Jira Administrators and Jira Users alike. The only difference is of course the depth of this knowledge. This knowlege is tested when you prepare for one of the Jira Atlassian Certified Professional exams. Often the preparation for JQL is underestimated (we use JQL every day right?) .…
  • If you want to disable the sub-task creation in the Epic type issue, then use other properties (in red frame)
  • Hi @Sue Wilson For me regular expressions was also something I wanted to avoid. This was simply hard for me to understand. However, this is sometimes very useful in Jira Automation and in other plugins so I finally decided to learn it at any price. The good news is that it turned out to be not that difficult (and I am not…
  • Hi @Rifdhy Hassen I am not sure if learning Jira 'quickly' is at all possible. Every new skill require time to learn and practice. You begin with simple things and gradually increase the level of difficulty. This requires time - every time. However, it is usually a challenge to have a good roadmap where to start and what…
  • Good news! The REST API call inside the loop "For Linked Issues" was fired only once and I managed finally to update the custom field 'Progression' with the average calculation. That was a really long journey. Thank you @Bill Sheboy for all the good ideas and tips you have given.
  • I did some the testing you mentioned earlier and, to be honest, I was disppointed with the fact that log action is written only once but when you put the same value in the Edit action, then it is written in every issue in the loop. I am happy to share the results of my experiments. Below is the Automation Log result items…
  • You are right. Once inside of the branch all you can do is to write the average in every linked issue - you cannot go out of the loop. But, I will give it a go with the REST API. I found out during my intensive exercises that there is an easy way to use SmartValues and get a unique link address of an issue, which is then…
  • Hello again @Bill Sheboy First of all, no need to apologize :) I wasted the time first and then asked you for help. However, it was not all wasted, because I finally found the answer to where to find SmartValue names for specific fields. There is an article explaining this here:…
  • Thank you very much @Bill Sheboy for the prompt reply. I found out (too late) that the lookup issues action is available only in the Cloud and I wasted some time for looking for it. I checked also that there are no plans to roll it out (the lookup action) to DC/Server any time soon. Unfortunately the discrepancy between…
  • Hello @Bill Sheboy . I hope you will be so kind and extend a bit your solution. Question 1: Could you please help me with a small extension of the solution we discussed above? I know now how to calculate the average of ALL outward issues, no matter what linke type they use. Is there a way to select only ONE issue link type…
  • Thanks @Bill Sheboy I used your solution with linked issues using Smart Values {{issue.issuelinks.outwardIssue.Progress.average|0}} and it worked as well! It means that one can use also linked issues. My automation looks something like this: * trigger: value changes for your custom field Progress * condition: issue type is…
  • Hello @[deleted] Your thorough reply here helped me in a completely different use case. In my use case I am receiving data from an API interface and the problem is that my automation is executed based on the transition and later there are a few branches, where one of them is selected based on some value in a custom field.…
  • @serkan_sezer importing Importing cascading choice custom fields is described in the documentation https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/importing-data-from-csv-861253680.html#ImportingDatafromCSV-PreparingyourCSVfile Multi level cascading is not yet supported. See JRASERVER-34202
  • @Michael Werner this is a standard Jira functionality https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/import-issue-links-from-a-csv-file-in-jira-server-740262715.html
  • When you check it out, please share your feedback for others (if you can ;)
  • Hello @Michael Moschitta See my Atlassian Jira Certification Ultimate Guide I have put a lot of effort to summarize my entire experience on the ACP certification subject and hopefully it will help you too: https://jlabnotes.com/atlassian-certification-ultimate-guide/ If you are looking for some Jira Administrator free…
  • I can share with my experience on how I became a Jira Administration expert. When I discovered Jira I was still a project manager. From the very beginning I wanted to learn as much as possible about the tool and its configuration. Quickly I was an advanced Jira user and still wanted to learn more. I had a lot of industry…
  • @Michael Werner I must admit that it is surprising. When I worked in the older version of Excel, I exported the file to CSV from Excel and then I would use the Notepad++ to convert it to UTF-8. Only then special characters and language specific characters are properly encoded in Jira
  • @Katelyn Botts I have not tested the procedure on Jira Cloud next gen projects. However, based on this detailed documentation about CSV data import, there is no differentiation between classic and next gen projects so it should work in both cases.
  • @Michael Werner I also use the latest version of Excel in Office 365 and I use CSV UTF-8 format See the screenshot
  • There is no need to import Status Category. This system field is set up automatically when you import issues with their statuses. Each status must be associated with one Status Category during configuration. See more about it in Defining status field values Status category is mainly used in JQL queries when you want to…
  • @Drew Cottrell I am not particularly happy with the change of certification services provider but there is little we can do about it because the decision has been made. I have signed up for two exams with the PSI - ACP-620 and ACP-120 and did not have any problems with this sign up. After the signup I got the confirmation…
