I have set my link preferences to "Display URL" but can't get this to work at all. I want the links in my card descriptions to stay in plain text. But even when I click the "unlink" icon, it converts back to a link that masks the URL. It's like I didn't even adjust my preferences. My use case is that I'm composing social…

Ha! I love the creative thinking here. Never would've thought about what lessons we can learn from Buffy :-D

Chiming in with a +1 to the Ritual Reset play. Have you given it a go, Andy?

I'm in! My daughter and I recently learned how to make macarons, so that's what we did. Posting photos and the recipe momentarily...

Yeah, the details get thorny real fast. A friend who works as an eng manager at a small software firm told me they recently went to 4-day weeks, with everyone off on Fridays. But then it's like, how does that affect our sprint cadence? What about weeks where there's a national holiday on Monday? Do you still try to cram a…

I can't speak for the company in any official capacity. But here's my take. I don’t anticipate Atlassian will pick up the four-day workweek torch any time soon. Right now we’re figuring out how to operate as an 8,000+ person, globally distributed, remote-first company. It’s a massive transition and I expect we’ll keep a…

LEGEND. Congratulations, Nic!

@Bob Sovers – Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the Jira Cloud instance we use internally at Atlassian. jira.atlassian.com is a separate, public instance for feature requests, etc. and I'm not sure what version it's running or how it is configured. I'll circulate the link to CONFCLOUD-62245 to a few…

@Bob Sovers – Ooh, not sure how to answer that because they're working fine on our Jira Cloud instance. Maybe your Jira admin has disabled them for your org? (I don't even know if that's possible... just spit-balling here.)

Interesting: I'd never thought of introversion as being its own flavor bias, but I see your point.
-
Love your can-do attitude! Fair point about "comb" shaped employees. If you go too far on specialization, you end up being helpless in too many other areas. There's a balance to strike, though, because you also can't go deep on everything.
-
D'oh! On it. Thanks for letting me know.

Ahh... thought so. Noted for the next user experience audit of the site!

There are a handful of studies that have come to this conclusion at a high level, with some nuanced conclusions depending on the exact methodology of the research. A few examples include: * Influence of Communication Partner’s Gender on Language * Meta-Analyses of Gender Effects on Conversational Interruption: Who‚ What‚…

That's a great point – and it's actually addressed in the follow-ups section of that play. (Side note: given that you didn't notice it, I wonder if we should tweak the page design to make follow-ups and variations more visible.) "Proactively solicit ideas that might’ve come to mind after the meeting. To produce their best…

Good point about involving people at ALL levels and giving them a sense of ownership.
-
Huh. That's... surprising. Is v1.1 working better for you?

The Trello guide is great. I'm a full-time remote worker, and I totally agree with the value of talking live, esp when you can see each other's faces. The 5-min impromptu video chat is my jam! So many times when a mini-meeting or two removes whatever roadblock I'm facing, and prevents a full-blown scheduled meeting.

#facepalm 😉
-
Totally get it.

Interesting! I wasn't expecting stand-ups to be on anyone's list.
-
Thanks! It literally started as a bunch of post-it notes on my kitchen table ;-)

My daughter is OBSESSED with that soundtrack. Like, to the point where I'm starting to regret the karaoke microphone we got her for Christmas...

Two peanuts were walking in Central Park. One was a salted.
-
Bleh. Here's hoping the rest of your afternoon is less talk, more rock.
-
Fixed! Thanks Emily – I'm sure Dom was just testing to see if readers were really paying attention ;-)
-
Ooh nice one. That'll power you through the afternoon for sure.
-
That's kind of hilarious. And I can relate! I'm constantly after my kids to finish one thing before starting another, and in my head, I picture a Kanban board every time! The WIP column is overflowing and the Done column is oh-so lonely.
-
Ok: not a question. But! Several people have already asked for the slide deck from Dom's keynote at Agile2018. You can view it and download it on SlideShare. (The speaker notes have been tidied up and are available in the "Notes" tab.) "Stay agile, San Diego!"
