Is this the same questions? :-) https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Confluence-Cloud-Import-Excel-Sheet-Automaticaly-Creating-New/qaq-p/1029653

You can configure Confluence Cloud to support a concept of "internal" and "external" users. This is a slide from my 2014 Summit presentation that talks about this: For your use case, you probably need to change your approach to space permissions and not use confluence-users group by default. Then you can grant that…
-
Alas, not without using an add-on! BTW I just wanted to check, as you had tagged the question as applying to "Confluence Cloud", however if that was the case you wouldn't be able to utilise user macros, as they are a feature in the server version only.
-
@Krishna Chaitanya M are using Confluence Cloud or on your own server? The HTML macro isn't available on Cloud, unless you are using a 3rd party add-on? If you are using Confluence on your own server, I would suggest taking a look the user macro functionality instead rather than using the HTML, Excerpt and Excerpt Include…

BTW if this is the new editor, there are some bugs that might be impacting this including: * https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-65583 * https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-65731

It does appear to be a bit hit and miss. In the original editor, for attachments stored on other pages, the best way I've found is to use the insert link option in the text editor and search for the file name. Then view as thumbnail. In the new editor, there doesn't appear to be an option to do this (yet) - even if you…

Be careful with going overboard with page level restrictions, as it can quickly become confusing for users and administrators alike about who has access to what!
-
If you upload a file through the user interface (i.e. the web browser), Confluence has no idea of the file's original creation date. So if you want retain those creation dates, you'll need to migrate the files in a different way or try making changes at a database level - I would suggest talking to an Atlassian partner…
-
This is possible, but only through custom development or third-party add-ons. Have a look at the Atlassian marketplace for options that work with Confluence Cloud.
-
Have you installed any third-party add-ons? They might be accessing the Atlassian libraries distributed via https://cdnjs.com/libraries/aui You could test this by activating safe…
-
In Cloud you need to use the Confluence Connect platform https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/confluence/about-confluence-cloud/ You can deploy your own custom macros as private add-ons via the marketplace.
-
Yes, if you are trying to use it in the new editor. Unfortunately, the alternative is that you will need to create your own macro to do this.
-
Some general tips, if you want to use Confluence for something more than technical documentation or free form collaboration: * Think carefully about your Confluence information architecture before you start, although think of it as an iterative process (see next point) * Building on your initial information architecture,…

When you are in the editor, the macro browser lets you see all the macros available. You can view by category and search. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/navigating-to-the-macro-browser-724764579.html

@Stephen Gilson if not being able to lock down content is an issue, you might like to look at the potential of user macros. For simple use cases (e.g. minimal or no configuration options in the macro), it is often a case of creating the template as a page initially and then copying the storage format code into the user…
-
No, that's what I was thinking. Creating user macros in cloud isn't difficult, but the barrier to entry is higher than on-premise as you can't do it through the UI. An alternative I've used on Cloud are the Include Page and Excerpt Include macros to put "templated" content into other pages. This is particularly useful if…
-
If you are familiar with CSS, try using the 'Div' macro to create a html block that uses your image as the background image. Note: Unfortunately this is a short term solution, as Atlasssian are deprecating this macro and others that support custom styling:…

Love the point about being stuck between using the provided notes template vs the "poor man's version". Not sure how this might work, but it would be good if the standard templates could be configured so you can access the additional blueprint functionality they provide but make them a better fit for your own needs.
-
@Dia & @Stephen Gilson out of interest, are you using Confluence on-premise or cloud? And have you considered using user macros (on-premise) or your own custom add-on macros (cloud) to create fixed elements on your templates? This wouldn't stop people from deleting the user macros, but it would give you a bit more control.
-
Yes, sorry its not the neatest approach, but hope it gets you close to what you need working with out of the box features.
-
Yes, it is a problem if you are only shown a page that has inherited permissions. However, since you are on server, are you also a member of the confluence-administrators group? (not the global permissions) That should allow you to see the page, regardless of the page permissions.
-
I built something like this as custom user macro for Confluence Server to show related pages - it used labels on the page that were dynamically inserted into the Content by Label macro. Unfortunately, achieving something similar in Cloud (to meet your specific requirements) but using the same basic approach will need a…
-
Confluence Cloud provides a reports like this, but it only reports on content tagged with a specific label - see the Content Report Table Macro. You could certainly achieve this using the API. I have done something similar in the past.
-
Bearing in mind that Confluence is a wiki (so may not always work the way you might expect other content or document management systems to work), to my knowledge you can't give people the ability to edit content, but not add new content. However, it might be something you could customise in Confluence Server to hide the…
-
Have you tried either the Include Page, Excerpt or Excerpt Include macros?
-
Definitely - If you are able to utilise 3rd-party add-ons, then you have many more opportunities to make use of meta-data. I've had more experience with ServiceRocket's Reporting (and Scaffolding) add-ons. But both Comala Metadata and Metadata for Confluence look worth investigating.
-
Yes, the Page Properties macros are great for creating reports, which you embed on a page using the Page Properties Report macro - but there aren't really any other macros that work with Page Properties. Also watch out for the pagination - it defaults to show only 30 items at a time and I've found that people can miss…
-
Good question. Labels are good for organising, aggregating or filtering content. They also support search and discovery. However, they are designed to be user-generated - any user with edit permissions can add or remove labels, without it being recorded as a page edit. The Page Properties macros allow you to build simple…

Ah! Check the documentation here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/email-notifications-724765358.html and https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/configuring-the-recommended-updates-email-notification-724765536.html As different teams and organisations use Confluence differently, it is really up to you decide…

As part of my work involves research, I use Confluence to collate observational research and other material I collect. For the observational research I capture notes and photos. Other desk-based research includes reviewing materials provided (typically as files) or collating other material I find. I would love to have a…
