Hi @Bölcs Andrej Are you looking to create a workflow in Jira that mimics managing a project for an architecture firm? There's generally standard stage gates that you need to pass through e.g. design drawings, complete drawings, start construction, etc. that you could have in your workflow. Jacob

Hi @lucale You'd create 5 Jira projects and then each project that you manage can be an epic. Big pieces of work can be stories and then smaller pieces of work can be tasks or sub-tasks. That's generally how I would structure the hierarchy. Check out our post on hierarchies here. If you're starting projects that are…

Hi @Ganesh Kumar Vary Are you looking for an automated response to explain why an issue wasn't able to finish in said sprint? Is there any reason why you can't write a comment explaining why it wasn't completed? Jacob
-
Hi @Colin Theseira Using filters is a possibility as well as separating each vendor's integration or service as it's own Epic. You'd be able to group them all in a Kanban board, separate them by Epic and create dependencies for them. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there's a more elegant / easy solution and I can't think of…

Hi @Łukasz Kołodziejczyk I'm sure you can create some automation so that when issues are created then it's pre-populated with some information or a 'template' of sorts. This is something that we've done in the past. Jacob
-
Hi @April Lyons Have you enabled the 'Dependencies' setting for Roadmap to ensure that dependencies are rolling up to your Epic? Jacob
-
Hi @Michelle Lee As the other two posts mentioned, there are definitely resources that help you get started but there's a lot to cover when it comes to project management in JIRA. You're able to manage projects both using Agile and Waterfall methods and I'd suggest looking at tools like Roadmaps, Advanced Roadmaps, etc. to…

Hi @Nikki Leonard If you're fine with a manual way to track time, there's a 'time tracking' field that you can use. It's inherent to each task, story, etc. so people can log work into the ticket. This is a manual process so people will need to do this manually per task/story/epic. Hope this helps. Jacob

Hi @Whitney Bell Are you looking to see dates at the start/end point of each bar or just be able to see dates corresponding to a date header like below? Jacob
-
Hi @Colin Theseira There's no best practices documents in terms of how to use Jira for project management. Are you looking to track integrations separately or together? Are they done by the same team? Is it your team that's managing the project? Lots of questions to answer which will help determine what to do. Jacob

Hi @DiAnna Wages Some good answers here but wanted to add another voice to the conversation. Since you're already using Advanced Roadmaps, you have the ability to create 'Initiatives', which is at a level higher than an Epic. In Advanced Roadmaps, you can create Plans, but I'd suggest using the Program feature as well.…

Hi @Roberto Miasack What's the objective for scheduling user comments here?

Hi @Syed Muhammad Abbas Bukhari Are you looking to contribute or become a community leader? Anyone can contribute to the community and you need to apply to become a community leader. Jacob
-
Hi @Ian Smith I think this is something you could do in Jira and not have to use Advanced Roadmaps for. I'd use 'Due Date' and 'End Date' separately, meaning 'Due Date' is the planned date vs. End date which is the actual end. I don't think there's an easy way to baseline in Jira or Advanced Roadmaps unfortunately. Jacob
-
Hi @[deleted] There's no out of the box config scenario to let your customers do that unless you provide them with access to your Jira instance which means giving them licenses as well. Tricky situation but unfortunately there's no easy way to solve it out of the box. Jacob

Hi @Camouflage Linking in Confluence is still working for me. When you click the linking window, put in values and then hit 'Enter', does it work? Jacob
-
Hi @Jacquelin Tripp I'd create a company-managed project so you can restrict who has access via groups or through the project. You want to manage it from a company level perspective and not allow users to determine who's able to view this information as I imagine there's personal information and sensitive information. Hope…
-
Hi @Jacquelin Tripp I'd suggest creating a separate project that only certain people have access to. This would allow you to separate projects from HR data and set correct permissions for access. Hope this helps. Jacob
-
Hi @Yash_nigam That's not really possible as stories and tasks are at the same level hierarchy wise. Unless you have Jira Software premium which gives you Advanced Roadmaps, that would help as AR allows you to create custom hierarchies.
-
Hi @Yash_nigam Sub-tasks are a child of stories and so they can be created under a story. Is that what you're looking to do? Jacob
-
Hi @Ben Fuller No worries, Atlassian offers free trials / free instances of basic versions so you can test it out and see if it would work for what you want to do. Let me know if you have questions or need professional help setting things up, here to help. Jacob

Hi @Tobias Hinterseer Thanks for the reply and makes sense. Best of luck in finding candidates! Jacob

Hi @Tinker Fadoua Just wanted to point out that it helps to make adjustments when it comes to sizing (assigning story points to stories) and when it comes to the amount of story points to complete per sprint. Jacob
-
Hi @craigHannah You can create global automations / rules, which allows you to create a rule that applies to multiple projects. Under rule details, you can change the scope of the rule to multiple projects and then add the two projects you want to create a rule in. Hope that helps. Jacob
-
Hi @Tinker Fadoua When it comes to sprint planning, I believe there are always going to be adjustments made in terms of how many story points / stories you can complete within a sprint cycle. Does your team review how many story points each person completed in the last sprint? It sounds like too many story points / stories…

Hi @Michael Jenni From my understanding from using Trello, you can change the visibility of the board to 'private' which means that only board members can see the board. You'll be able to send links to specific boards and they will be able to access those specific boards. Hope that helps. Jacob
-
Hi @Desislava Drazhkova Kanban boards aren't really used as a WBS. It's mostly used to take a high-level look at the work that needs to be done and where things are at. If you're trying to emulate a WBS, I'd suggest reviewing issue types and using Epics, Stories, Tasks and Sub-tasks to break down work. Level 1 would be…
-
Hi @Tinker Fadoua I find it helps when speaking to managers who don't understand important technical concepts to explain in a way that they would understand. If they're more business objective / outcome oriented, I would re-frame what it is that you're looking to do in a way that aligns with business objectives/outcomes…

Hi @Ben Fuller Project management is my forte so hopefully I can help with this. If you're looking to manage tasks and create timelines based off of your tasks, I'd suggest taking a look at Jira Work Management. Jira Software could be useful for you but in order to create Gantt charts and have the ability to manage…

Hi @Software Assets It sounds like you're looking to connect your ERP system to Jira and push/pull data between the two systems? This is possible but you'd likely need to use a third party connector unless you have the development team to do the work in-house. Hope this helps. Jacob
