Looks to me like you can use this Smart Value in condition to do the right thing: You won't be able to "fill in" the correct project in the "Create a new story" component. And you'll want to rely on the numeric IDs (rather than names) for the projects (since names can be edited, breaking your rule). But automation CAN do…

One key point(as @Elliot Reiter mentioned) is that the Cumulative Flow Diagram does not automatically align with your Sprint start/end dates. As you try to make the numbers line up, start by adjusting the start date and end date of this report to match the time-box of the Sprint you are interested in (top-left). Also,…

In Jira Cloud it is a global setting for the instance. I believe it defaults to 10. So if yours is 5, that suggests that an admin likely reduced it from the default. Perhaps check with any other Jira admins at your site? The setting is under "Admin > System > Options". The max is still 255 (don't do it!!!!)

Jira Cloud allows up to 10 characters for a Project Key (I just checked). I believe Jira Server and/or DC allows a maximum key length to be set. @Swati Rastogi : it would help to know what version of Jira you are using (Cloud, Server, or DC). Also, just for further reference related to Project Keys: * Things to consider…

To confirm a few things... 1) When you wrote that you "Wanted it to be on the details page but that page is not editable or shows in reports", were you talking about the "Project Details" page (under "Project Settings > Details")? If so, I'm not aware of any customization that is offered there. 2) When you wrote "there…

Agreed. This used to work, and now does not. There appears to be no workaround for selecting "all spaces".

Neither of the non-JQL fields in this component accept Smart Values. So I did some tests with smart values in the JQL field of this "Related Issues / Sub-tasks" component. I started with a pretty dumb smart value, and this JQL worked: myField > {{#=}} 0 {{/}} Then I tried this: myField > {{issue.myField}} and that also…

I encourage someone experiencing this to report it to Atlassian Support, and then post the link to the JAC bug here (not the link to your support ticket). Normally I would have already, except it's not happening in my instance.

I too am seeing this error in one of our client instances of Confluence Cloud. I am not seeing it in our main corporate instance of Confluence Cloud. So that's a piece of data (affects some cloud instances and not others). I narrowed it down to the "Label(s)" field. When it is blank, this error occurs. When a label is…

Not sure what you mean by "I recognize that I can't use Smart Values in Related Issue Condition...", since Smart Values can be used in the JQL field of a Related Issue Condition. The warning that appears in that dialog is only talking about validating the JQL. Thus, the "Validate query" feature is disabled when the JQL…

One other thought: Backups are only useful if you can actually Restore from them. Some months ago I happened to discover that our Jira Cloud backups had a problem which would abort a Restore (we had a User Group name that ended in a space -- oh, the horror of it all!!). Now that Jira Cloud Sandbox instances are a real…

@David Benson _draw_io_ Thanks for the clarification, David. Bad assumption on my part. So then can you confirm that a normal Jira Cloud backup includes all draw.io diagrams? If so, I'll revise my comment for accuracy.

I'd add a couple more things to consider when performing periodic Jira Cloud backups: * Back up your Automation Rules at the same time: "Jira > Settings > System > Automation rules > 3-dots menu > Export rules". * Backup any app-specific data. You may need to do some one-time discovery into each of the Jira Apps you are…

It sounds like you're talking about JSM rather than Jira proper, but the concepts should transfer. I'm writing from a Jira Cloud perspective. Let's look at your example of a Department custom field that shows in one project but not another. That impacts Fields and Screens (configuration and schemes). So as @Heather…

When creating a new project in Jira, the "Share settings with an existing project" option can be confusing. Checking that box allows most (not all) of the configuration for an existing project to be reused for the new project. It can save an admin quite a bit of time. But often the new project is NOT an exact config copy…

Thanks for the article, @Mirek! As I answer questions in the Atlassian Community, it will be helpful to point newbies to this article. A great way to help people learn to help themselves!

To help bootstrap people with their own dashboard, I'll offer the JQL for the filter on my JAC dashboard: reporter = currentUser() OR comment ~ currentUser() OR issue in watchedIssues() OR issue in votedIssues() ORDER BY updatedDate DESC

@Jacob Rosenfeld - A hack approach you could explore would be creating a new Confluence user, setting that user to watch the space, and routing (forwarding) their email to a Jira email handler. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-issues-and-comments-from-email/ I've not done it, but it might…

Great article, @Hana Kučerová. I've actually been asked for this kind of "post-dated time logging alerts" also. Another feature of Tempo Timesheets is a custom "grace period" where a Timesheet Approver can provide some extra time for people to log time after a Timesheet Period has ended. More here:…

@Charles-Edouard Sadoulet The support ticket I had opened for this issue got resolved after I cleared local data and cookies for all the Atlassian-related domains in my browsers, and then giving it some time and/or closing/restarting the browsers. With Chrome, it seemed to take a couple of hours before the new icons…

List capabilities with Smart Values are documented here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/smart-values-lists/ For your use case, scroll down to the "Combined function examples" section. Short answer: {{#first}}

Unfortunately, I have not researched Jira apps to solve this problem. Hopefully others who have needed to address this in their instances can suggest some apps that they have found helpful. We're currently using Tempo Timesheets to provide a solid aggregation of logged time at various levels (including Epics, but also with…

For Cloud instances, it appears there are no built-in Health/Integrity Checks. The "instance sandbox" feature is of value, though. The bulk of the activity seems to be manually executing the listed tests. Note that quite a few of the tests (e.g. transitioning issues, issue operations, etc) may need to be repeated for…

Automation is more for "backend" algorithmic responses to changes in Jira (not "front-end" / GUI). There is no support for interacting with a user, beyond manually triggering a rule to execute. Workflow interaction is limited to status changes (transitions), where a screen can be involved to offer optional fields and…

I had a business request for an external read-only user in our instance just this morning. The need is real.
